Thomas Zarrella, based in Boston, Massachusetts, currently focuses on business consulting to existing and emerging companies. He served as President and CEO of SustainX, an energy storage start-up, from 2010 to 2015. Prior to SustainX, from 2004 to 2009 he held leadership roles at GT Solar International, an Angeleno Group portfolio company, which he joined as President and COO before being appointed CEO in 2006. GT Solar had a successful IPO in 2008.
Before GT Solar, Mr. Zarrella headed Schott Solar AG’s US manufacturing operations, where he was instrumental in transforming the R&D-oriented company into a full-scale manufacturer of photovoltaic products. Earlier, he directed manufacturing and North American operations for Instron Corporation and held management positions at companies including Revere Corporation, Sprague Meter (Textron, Inc.), and Sikorsky Aircraft (United Technologies).
Mr. Zarrella currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Pathways for Children (a pre-school nonprofit) in Gloucester, MA. He is a former audit committee chairman and past President of Sage Bank of Lowell Massachusetts. He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from the University of Bridgeport.
Mr. Zarrella has been working with Angeleno Group since 2006.
